Funside Balaton registration – Frequently Asked Questions

More than 1000 places are gone already and our team is doing their best to confirm all applications. Until we get back to you, check out some of the frequently asked questions and answers below, in case you have any queries.

We have submitted the sign-up form but we haven’t received any e-mails. What happened?

Our system sends an automatic e-mail in a few minutes after the form was submitted to confirm its receipt. As we are sending out thousands of e-mails during the registration period, despite using our secure provider, some of our messages may end up in the Spam folder. Make sure to check that first. If there is no automatic confirmation letter there either, please contact us and we’ll help you figure it out!

I applied very early and received the automatic reply, but no official confirmation e-mail. My friend did it the same time as me and he’s received his. What happened?

As long as you received the automatic reply, there is nothing to worry about, we’ve received your registration! Our staff check each registration form individually but sometimes clarification is needed about the provided details. This means that in some cases we’ll call you to obtain some extra information, which might take a little longer than a simple email confirmation. The availability of classes is still determined by the order of registrations, so receiving the confirmation email later doesn’t affect your chances of getting in.

I registered within the first hour but only got on the waiting list for a class. What happened?

Some of our classes, especially ones where demand is really high but spaces are very limited due to the number of courts or IT rooms, like Tennis and Photography, usually fill up first, sometimes just a few minutes after registration has begun. For Tennis for example, we received three times more registrations then there are places on the first day alone.

I was put on the waiting list for a class. What does this mean?

If you applied to a class that was already full, you had the option to select a “Plan B” on your sign-up form. For example, if your first choices were English and Tennis, and Tennis was already full when you applied, and your Plan B pick was Sports, we’ll register you for English and Sports and we’ll automatically reserve a place for you on the waiting list for Tennis. If a place frees up, the next person in line, based on the time of registration, will get that place – if that is you, then we’ll let you know right away!

Is there a chance to get in from the waiting list and when do I find out? Does it still make sense to register for a class that is already sold out?

Yes, it absolutely does, as someone might cancel or amend their application any time between now and the camp, so places might free up and some usually do. It makes sense to sign up as early as possible, as the waiting list follows a first come first served basis. If you’d like to know how long your list is, feel free to get in touch, however, it’s impossible to know when a place might free up – someone might cancel next week or 3 days before that camp, it’s entirely up to them. But if it does happen and you’re next in line, we’ll let you know!

Why does registration begin at midday?

We get this a lot, but the explanation is simpler than you might think: should anything go wrong during the registration process, like a server issue due to high demand and any other IT-related conundrum, this is the time of day when we have the best chance of fixing it quickly to make sure registration runs smoothly and everyone can sign-up. As our camp is quite unique, with its 24 different classes and hundreds of possible combinations, we are using a custom-made IT system, and to make sure everything functions as intended during the heavy traffic period of the first few minutes, it takes a simultaneous cooperation from three different service providers. Fun fact: our website statistics tell us that on the first day of registrations this year, you submitted sign-up forms in 69 different versions of 9 different internet browsers, and from more than 100 different devices. We have to ensure that everyone, regardless of the technology they are using, can use the system flawlessly, and we are more than happy to tell you that this year, the vast majority of campers were able to submit their sign-forms within minutes and without any difficulties!

We hope we have answered the questions you may have had. If not, feel free to get in touch with us!
