Celebrating Funside’s 10th birthday, the final week of this year’s camp brings together some of our best activities from previous years, as well as one time specials.
2017 marks the 10-year-anniversary of the first Funside camp, held in Budapest in 2007, four years before our first camp at Lake Balaton opened in 2011. To commemorate a decade of camps, Week 5 will be a true “Greatest Hits” collection of some of our favorite afternoon and evening activities, along with a few new ones that will only take place during Week 5.
After Sunday’s Camp Opening Ceremony and the first classes of the week on Monday morning, Monday afternoon will see the return of our Water Football activity, a regular camp game between 2012 and 2014. In Water Football, the aim is to score a goal in an inflated arena, where added water is just another obstacle to overcome, ensuring a great time on every occasion. Monday evening’s Road Challenge has been a popular Funside activity since its introduction in 2012, and will only take place during Week 5 this summer. This is a game where groups move from station to station on a circular track, solving fun 1-minute puzzles at each station for points that add up over the course of the game. The winning groups are awarded prizes at the end.
For Tuesday afternoon, we have a brand new activity planned, as this is the very first time, and the only time in 2017, that we hold a Color Run at Funside Balaton! Those who sign up will compete in a friendly race, passing stations bursting in colors for added excitement. Also this afternoon, campers can go to the beach or choose from sports and other free time activities. In the evening, those who prefer dancing will surely attend our Open-Air Teen Disco, while those more into singing definitely should not miss our Karaoke Party in the theater hall.
There can be no Greatest Hits week without the Aqua Park, a camp favorite activity ever since the first time it was added to our camp schedule in 2012. We will be leaving to Sarvar right after lunch to enjoy the sunshine, the giant water slides, the several different pools and other fun activities all the way until after dinner time, when make our way back to the camp venue.
Our Great Record Attempt is another regular Funside activity: in the past three summer seasons our campers successfully attempted to set up nationwide records officially recognized by the Hungarian Records Association, including our Cup Song record in 2014, our sign language lyrics record in 2015, as well as our secret handshake record in 2016. This year’s record attempt will be brand new and it is a surprise for now, but it will surely be just as much fun as in previous years. Thursday evening is shaping up to be more relaxing, featuring the final Beach Night activity of 2017.
After the final classes on Friday, our Game Afternoon presents all the well-known activities from our Game Nights, including the all-popular Dance Central Tournament. In the evening, our art exhibition, Music Camp live concert and other recitals will provide plenty to see, before our special surprise-filled Anniversary Closing Night brings an end to this year’s Funside Balaton camp. To round things off, campers will get to re-live some of the best moments one more time during our photo slideshow and weekly video screening at Saturday morning’s Camp Closing Ceremony. Then, the countdown to next year’s camp begins again…
