Camp menu options
Menus and special meals at our camp on Lake Balaton
At the Funside Balaton Camp we provide four meals a day, as well as fruits and drinking water for our campers. Hot lunch and dinner, for the regular and vegetarian menus, are prepared in the camp kitchen. In addition, a range of special menus are provided by our external partners to accommodate the majority of our campers with food allergies or intolerances.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Regular and vegetarian meals
Our camp location, the Balatongyörök Youth Camp, operates its own camp kitchen on-site, providing breakfast, a warm two-course lunch, and a warm dinner for both the regular and vegetarian menus. Due to the nature of the camp kitchen, the meals are child-friendly, simple, and consist of traditional dishes, reflecting the style typical of classic camp kitchens in Hungary. At our request, the menu often includes dishes inspired by international cuisines, aligning with the camp's international character. Starting in 2024, campers also have the option to choose cereal instead of the breakfast listed on the menu.
The Regular Menu also recommended in cases of:
- Pork-free diet: A pork-free version of the regular menu is available and is also prepared in the camp kitchen.
- Lactose-free diet: Campers with mild lactose intolerance (without severe symptoms) and/or those taking lactase enzyme supplements may find the standard menu a suitable option. (For those with more severe symptoms, separate lactose-free or dairy-free menus are available - details below!)
Sample weekly menu
The menu changes between sessions and expands each year with new dishes. Below is a typical weekly menu from our 2024 camp:

Snack point
In addition to breakfast, a warm lunch, and a warm dinner, we also provide a fourth meal with the help of our enthusiastic team of Funside Juniors. Campers can enjoy this snack during the mid-morning break between classes (on weekdays between 10:30 and 11:00). At the "Snack Point," set up during this time, campers can choose from options such as porridge, instant soup, or granola bars, all free of charge.
Sandwiches by Tramezzini
On the first day of the weekly session, arriving campers are welcomed with sandwiches provided by Tramezzini for lunch. This ensures that lunch is available regardless of when they arrive within the designated 3-hour arrival period. Similarly, on the departure day, Tramezzini sandwiches are provided for the journey home.

Water stations
We provide Garai Pi-water fresh drinking water for our campers, which is available unlimitedly through water dispenser stations located in multiple areas of the camp. Campers can refill their own water bottles at any time.
Snack bar (camp buffet)
During the summer, a camp buffet operated by the Balatongyörök Youth Camp is available on-site. It offers a modest selection of snacks, sandwiches and pizza slices, mineral water and soft drinks, as well as sweets and ice cream for campers to purchase.
Fruits
At the camp, we provide fruits to our campers free of charge. It can be collected at the reception during the mid-morning break (on weekdays between 10:30 and 11:00) between the classes. The “Fruit Point” offers a daily selection of seasonal fresh fruits, typically including apples, pears, bananas, peaches or nectarines.

Special dietary needs
For any camper requiring a special diet due to health reasons, warm meals are provided by an external supplier. These meals are delivered daily to the camp and, if necessary, even from Budapest. This service is available in limited quantities and only with a valid medical note or certificate from a doctor, but it is offered at no extra cost. Considering the supplier's offerings, fulfilling individual dietary needs is always subject to a case-by-case evaluation.
